Halloween

Tyson loved Halloween and all the carving of pumpkins.

He thought carving pumpkins was fun. He got his own to scoop and play with while mom and dad worked on the big ones. He loved taking off the lid and putting it back on. He even stuck a smaller pumpkin into his. He thought playing in the seeds and guts was great fun and laughed the whole time he was sticking his fingers in the gunk.

He was Buster Bronco (Boise State's mascot) this year with his horse costume and Boise State Bronco jersey. He did not complain one bit about the costume with hood. When we finally got him out of it, he was sweaty. We did not go door to door trick-or-treating this year. We thought that he was too little, so we visited with grandparents instead. This is where he decided that he was going to sit in the magazine rack. What a ham.

Tyson Turned ONE!

Tyson turned one this weekend. We had a fun small party with our family. He loved getting toys, once he figured out that the paper came off and fun things were inside.

The cake was created the night before with help from Tyson's grandma. I'm thankful that she is creative and willing to help. I did help frost the cars and Brad even helped with putting on the fruity cheerios on the animal cage. I wonder what next year's cake will be.

Tyson is now walking and has 6, almost 8 teeth. He is VERY, VERY, VERY busy and keeps us on our toes. He loves being outside and coloring, but his favorite thing to do is read books. He has really grown up. I can't believe that it was only 12 months ago that I my whole world was changed. I never knew just how wonderful life was until Tyson joined us. We are very thankful for him everyday. Our little bundle of joy a year ago is now a wonderful little toddler.

First Tooth

We have a bottom left tooth tonight. Tyson is very sad about the pain. I wish we could do something to help sooth it. We have given him Tylenol but he doesn't seem to be able to now calm down to go to sleep. It has been a very long week. I hope the next week is easier for him. Allergic reaction, ear infections, runny nose, and now a tooth cutting through. It really is tough turning 6 months.

Banana Allergy

I just wanted to update you about our banana allergy. Tyson is doing great. He was on Benadryl for 48 hours to help with the swelling and reaction. But now he is back to his normal happy self. Bananas are in the group of allergies that are considered Latex allergies. The allergy is associated with a plant protein. We have made an appointment to see an allergy doc. After I posted the last update, Brandy, Brad's sister showed it to the doctors she works for and they said that this reaction was a major one and that we really need to be careful and that we may need to carry and epi pen with us just in case he has another allergic reaction to something since this one was really bad and quick. Great news to hear if you are mom and dad. So, besides bananas; peaches, mangoes, and possibly strawberries and pineapple are foods he can't eat that they make baby food with. Another major one is potatoes. I tried shopping today for some mixed foods but everything has bananas, peaches, mangoes, or potatoes in them. I guess I'm glad Tyson loves his veggies.

6 Months and Counting

Tyson is 6 months old! I can't believe how fast time flies. I don't know where to start with the update so I'll start with why I have the time today to write. Today I got a phone call while I was at work that Tyson was having a food allergy reaction at daycare. So I called the doctor, while I was getting Benadryl from our school nurse, and raced over to daycare (1/4 of a mile from work). When I got to daycare this is what my beautiful baby boy looked like.

I had sent bananas for breakfast and he reacted to them within 30 minutes. He had eaten them for dinner last night and really didn't have a reaction. So I loaded him, doped him with Benadryl, and headed for the doctor. It was determined that Tyson probably has an allergy to bananas and that we need to avoid them until he is one and then try them again.

So I'm home now, Tyson is sleeping soundly with the Benadryl and Tylenol (he has an ear infection too) that he has been given. I hope he wakes up my sweet beautiful boy. It just pains me to see him so swollen and sad.

In the past month we have had great adventures. Tyson has started eating more solids. He loves his veggies but hates the fruit.

He loves to help me get the spoon in his mouth but sometimes that doesn't always work out to hit the target. He is getting better, however. Eating isn't as messy now as it was at the beginning of the month.

We visited with the Easter Bunny on Easter. Tyson wasn't too sure what to think of the bunny. But he did not have any objections to him. I guess we will see how next year goes.

We had a great time visiting Shoshone Falls. The water at Shoshone Falls was at its top levels in years. These falls are taller than Niagara by 50 feet. They are truly amazing with all the water.

I completed the final part of my state testing. I will hear in a month if I passed. I did pass the first part that I took in March. This was a great relief. School is out in a month so I'm busy finishing projects and reflections with the kids. It is a busy time at school. Brad is just getting started with the ice in the valley. The weather has been cold and rainy so people haven't been out much. He expects things to pick up now that it is May and the weather is getting better.

I'm 5 months old this week!

This is going to be quick, but mom's been getting lost of emails and comments that we haven't been sharing pictures so here are a few recent ones. My mom has been busy at work and studying for part of her test for her teaching certificate in Idaho. She thinks she passed this part yesterday. The next part she takes in April. Anyway, I'm supposed to be in bed now. So here are a few pics. I'm in the 90 percentile for my height and 50 percentile for my weight. I can giggle, roll over from my front to the back and my back to the front. I'm working on crawling but if I can get someone to hold me up to stand I like that the best.
